The collection, transport and brokerage of waste

The collection, transport and brokerage of waste require approval from the authorities. In the transport of certain wastes, the law requires the use of a transfer document and the submission of the information in the transfer document to the SIIRTO register.

Provisions on the transport of waste within Finland and the official approval of the waste transporter, broker and collector are laid down in the Waste Act and the Waste Decree. Read more at Obligations of the waste carrier and broker placed outside of Finland.

Extended Producer Responsibility

Extended Producer Responsibility applies to approximately 50,000 Finnish manufacturers, importers and packers as well as distance sellers. Extended Producer Responsibility for waste management makes recycling efficient and easy.  The aim is to prevent the generation of waste and promote circular economy.
