Register extract and certificate of right to practise

You may need a certificate of your current professional status if you plan to work abroad or apply for professional practice rights abroad.

The processing of an application in the Finnish Supervisory Agency is subject to a fee. By submitting an application, you agree to the fees. Please check the prices at the bottom of the page under Fees.

You can order the following certificates from Finnish Supervisory Agency:

  • Extract from the register
  • Certificate of Current Professional Status (CCPS, including the directive certificate, also known as an EU Certificate)

An extract from the register or a Certificate of Current Professional Status can only be ordered for a person currently listed in either the Terhikki or the Suosikki register. You can verify the details of social welfare and health care professionals in the public JulkiTerhikki/JulkiSuosikki service.

Extract from the register

  • contains up-to-date details on rights to practise and either a statement that the person’s right to practise has not been restricted or that the person’s right to practise has been restricted and in what way
  • is available in Finnish, Swedish or English
  • can be ordered on behalf of another person
  • is digitally signed

Certificate of Current Professional Status (CCPS)

  • includes up-to-date details on rights to practise currently in the register, a certificate of the right to practise and a statement on restriction of the right to practise if the person’s right to practise has been restricted
  • includes a directive certificate, i.e. confirmation that the person’s training is compliant with the Directive on the recognition of professional qualifications
  • is in English
  • can only be ordered by the person themselves
  • is valid for three months from the date of issue
  • is digitally signed

If you have completed your degree in an EU/EEA member state other than Finland, you must request the directive certificate from the country in which you completed your degree in. In this case you should order an extract from the register in English from Finnish Supervisory Agency.

If you have completed your degree outside the EU/EEA Finnish Supervisory Agency can give you a directive certificate, providing that the requirements are met. If necessary, Finnish Supervisory Agency might request you to submit your employment certificates.

Ordering a certificate

We recommend that you place your order through our online service. If you are unable to use the Finnish Supervisory Agency online service, place your order by sending an e-mail kirjaamo(at)lvv.fi. The average processing time for orders is two weeks.

If you are about to relocate for work outside the EU/EEA and you need an officially certified copy of your certificate, please state this in your order. Note that this may lengthen the processing time.
