Reporting of sales every six months

The holder of an alcohol serving licence must submit a bi-annual notification of the serving of alcoholic beverages to the Finnish Supervisory Agency:

  • Report the sales for January–June by the end of July.
  • Report the sales for July–December by the end of January.

A report must be submitted for each licence. Failure to comply with bi-annual reporting on the serving of alcoholic beverages may result in the imposition of a penalty fine.

Submit a notification in the Alcohol Trade Register’s e-service

If you are acting on behalf of a company, you must have the right to sign for the company or an authorisation to act on behalf of the company granted by a person with the right to sign. Mandates can be granted on in the Suomi.fi service. Select ''Applying for alcohol trade licences and submitting related notifications' as the mandate theme if you want to grant or request authorisation to apply for and report on behalf of a company. However, select ''Reporting of the alcohol sector to the authorities'' instead if you only want to grant the right to report information.

What information must be submitted in a notification?

The sales value of the serving of alcoholic beverages and the number of personnel must be reported to the Finnish Supervisory Agency. A notification must be submitted separately for each licence.

If the licensed premises also have retail sales, the volume of retail sales must also be stated in litres and its value in euros.

When alcoholic beverages are purchased with a licence number (e.g. from a brewery or wholesale outlet), the purchase information is automatically transmitted to the Finnish Supervisory Agency.

If alcoholic beverages have been purchased from retail outlets, such as grocery stores, for the purpose of serving alcoholic beverages, these purchases must be reported to the Finnish Supervisory Agency twice a year. The notification can be submitted in connection with the notification of serving alcohol.

The notifications must be submitted within the deadline even if there were no sales during the reporting period.
