At the Finnish Supervisory Agency, we want to offer services fully aligned with our customers’ needs. Based on this vision, we have defined our agency's strategy for 2026–2027.

As a national agency our services are available throughout the country, and our experts work in different parts of Finland. Thanks to this, we have a comprehensive view of the situation in the whole country in matters related to our duties.

Our goals are to

  • implement streamlined and customer-oriented processes

Finnish Supervisory Agency – for our customers

Before 2026, several different authorities were responsible for permit and supervision tasks in Finland, decisions varied across the country and the operating methods needed development. As there were overlaps in the tasks of the Regional State Administrative Agencies, the Ely Centres and the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health (Valvira), a new operator was needed to guarantee equal, timely and smooth services for customers throughout the country and to accelerate sustainable growth and investments without delay.

Thus the Finnish Supervisory Agency was created.

Our new agency inherited tasks and personnel from more than twenty different organisations. We have about 2,000 experts in different fields in 18 towns and cities. Our operations are multidisciplinary, consistent and flexible. 

One of our first tasks is to harmonise our operating methods so that we can guarantee smooth and predictable licensing and supervision processes regardless of the region. Our mission is to create safety, well-being and legal protection. We enable sustainable growth throughout Finland. We are a national player with regional presence. That's our strength.

The difficult economic situation and scarce resources guide us to review and streamline our practices. As the population ages and regions become more segregated, we adapt our services to meet the growing and changing need for services.
